Waldorf and Wood Toys
Waldorf Education is a philosophy that was introduced in the 1920s in Germany. It is a natural and holistic approach to education; toys should be simple, open-ended, and inspired by nature, thus leaving endless room for imagination.
At Waldorf & Wood, we make all-natural children's toys. Everything in the shop is handmade in the Fraser Valley using organic, eco-friendly, and/or rescued / vintage materials such as 100% wool, organic cotton, rescued hardwoods, and non-toxic milk paint.
We make classic wooden toys such as cars and a variety of pull-along animals on wheels, mystical gnomes and magical wands, and my specialty handmade dolls.
I am rather new to toy-making, 2023 is my second year, and I love it. Everything is made in my little homework shop with some help from family. I am also partnered with a very talented knitter who makes beautiful pixie caps and jackets for my dolls. Each doll takes approximately 25 hours to make and they are all unique; I make boys and girls, of all races, removable clothes, and each doll comes with its adoption certificate and name. They are all very dear to me and as happy as I am to see them adopted into loving homes, it can be hard for me to part with them! I truly hope you will enjoy visiting my market hut this Christmas, and I am sure you can find something for all the little ones on your list <3
Check them out at the Vancouver Christmas Market!
